The New Guild for the Traditional Plastering Craft was formed to perform several important functions.
Firstly we wanted to create a comprehensive register of plasterers working in the heritage sector along with a record of their skill level. The skill level of each member on the register has been checked in order to be sure that they can do what they say they can.
The register can be accessed by anyone looking for plasterers to carry out traditional plastering.
Secondly the guild acts as a point of contact for the members to enable them to work together and support one another in their work. Together we are stronger.
Through being in touch with each other we can share ideas and ask questions via the newsletter which is written by the members for the members.
Our annual Gathering enables us to come together physically sharing information through talks and demonstrations in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
The guild is open to all traditional plasterers and non plasterers , tutors , conservators anyone interested in the craft of traditional plastering.
Together we are stronger !
Application will be available to all.
An application package will include-
A list of the various levels from which the applicant will choose one.
A request for supporting information such as a curriculum vitae and apprenticeship papers or other supporting evidence in the form of testimonials etc although successful application does not require these.
In the application the applicant will have to give details of projects where they have carried out the disciplines relevant to their application level. Access to these sites in the company of the applicant will be required by the assessor.
A fee will be payable to the assessor directly and will be set by the committee at a reasonable level to cover costs to the assessor. This will be non refundable unless the assessor does not visit.
A successful applicant will have to sign a document agreeing to abide by the high standards of work and behaviour required by the guild.
The document will outline that each member at Master level of the guild will when called upon to do so become an assessor of new applicants in their area and by signing this document is agreeing to do that.
